The girls were very excited about the game and were very keen to get the win. However a defiant Bangalow side defended very well in the first half with only a few scoring opportunities going to either side. With the score at 0-0 going into the break - both teams made some changes to try to make something happen in the second half.
Villa then started to build some pressure in attack and midway through the second half the deadlock was broken when Amy Keen slotted one into the corner from close range to put the Angels 1-0 up.
Our girls then kept attacking with many opportunities but also defended brilliantly - again not conceding a goal all game. When the full time whistle was blown the girls were jubilant after a fantastic 1-0 grand final win. Great sportsmanship was shown throughout and at the end of the game our players shook hands and thanked the opposition. Bangalow also congratulated our team and were gallant in defeat.
The presentation was then held and the poinstscore and grand final trophies presented to the captain - Alesha Parker. Player of the match was awarded to Hannah Gallagher for a wonderful all round effort. Well done Angels!!!

Small Sided Rules
It seems that after several years after the introduction of Small Sided Football FFNC are still receiving some complaints about the variation of teams interpretation of the rules.
FFNC have received various communications from member clubs concerned that “some” coaches are not adhering to the rules of Small Sided Football (SSF). There are three matters that appear to be causing most angst:-
- The number of players being allowed on the field per team.
- Apparent instruction to allocate a goalie in Grade 6 & 7 games.
- Gr8-11 goal keepers cannot kick the ball from out of their hands.
- Parents (and coaches) creating a “how many goals are scored or a must win” environment.
We are asking SSF coaches/parents to make sure you have a general understanding of the appropriate rules. These are available on the FFNC website or FFNC handbook. They have been designed for a sound purpose and should be respected. The perennial “win at all cost” attitude should be discouraged.
We all recognise children who possess extra talent and the excitement created (for adults) when these youngsters amaze us with their exploits on the sporting field. Enthusiasm, pride and encouragement are all part of the sporting experience, but most importantly we should rejoice about the clean, healthy FUN that they are having.
Thanks for your appreciation of helping to promote the appropriate “spirit of competition” and development for our kids.
