WELCOME TO VILLA FC!

Alstonville and District Football Club (Villa FC) has been providing a fun football experience for the people of the Alstonville Plateau since 1972.

During our proud history we have focused on being an inclusive club promoting positive behaviours and participation in team sport.

The club provides a pathway for talented players with strong teams in both the men's and women's premier divisions and in the junior competitions.

Our sense of community and love for the game makes this a great club to be involved with. New players and volunteers are always welcome. Please click on the 'Contact Us' menu item above for all inquiries.

2015 Oceania Cup - Big Success!

The 2015 Alstonville FC Oceania Cup was a great success by all accounts. Held over the October long weekend this was the culmination of much planning and preparation for the unique all girls and womens football tournament.

With 34 teams and approximately 500 players the third year of this tournament exceeded expectations. All teams thoroughly enjoyed the event. The club plans to run the tournament every year and we hope it will only get bigger and better.

Teams from as far away as Canberra, Woolgoolga, Gold Coast and Brisbane attended as well as a host of local teams. And the event received good media coverage.

A huge thank you goes to all the volunteers who helped over the weekend without whom it would not have been possible and to all the visiting teams who attended.

Below are the tournament champions for the 2015 Oceania Cup. We are looking forward to seeing you again in 2016.

Gr12 - Woopi Wanderers
Gr14 - Alstonville Red Devils
Gr16 - Dunoon Diamonds
Open A - Lismore Workers
Open B - Maclean

2015 AGM: Mon 26th Oct, 7pm, Bowling Club

Just a reminder that our Annual General Meeting (AGM) is on Monday night (26 Oct) 7PM at the Alstonville Bowling Club.

We are really wanting more people to join the committtee or take on a role in the club - whether it's a BIG or SMALL job, all help is welcome!

Taking on a role or job is a very rewarding experience and a service to the community. You will also be joining a passionate and great group of volunteers who have a great time doing what they love.

Please click below for a list of the major roles. We are also particularly interested in people to help with the canteen - which is vital to our fundraising.

If you are interested but cannot attend the meeting please phone Matt Wiltshire on 0402 013364 and let us know you can help.

Hope to see you there!

Also a special thanks to our sponsors who enabled us to have our 150yr shirts to wear in the parade. Thank you to all!

Referee Abuse Video - Must Watch!

Please have a look at this video and pass it on. It shows that we need to think of our kids first and foremost.

Referee Abuse Article

To the Villa Family,

By now most of you will have read or heard about yesterday’s article in the Northern Star relating to an Alstonville player and their abuse of a match official.

In the interests of ensuring accuracy and eliminating ambiguity the Committee wishes to advise the following.

An Alstonville player in our men’s 5th division was sent off for verbally abusing the match official during a match at Crawford Park last Tuesday night. The extent of the abuse both before and after the issuance of the red card was appalling and totally inappropriate.

The Committee has made it very clear that any form of verbal abuse towards match officials will not be tolerated. Accordingly, the Club has imposed sanctions against the player. Sanctions may also be imposed by Football Far North Coast.

We also wish to confirm that neither the Club, or any of it’s players, were involved in the other two incidents mentioned in the article.

We are extremely disappointed that our Club has been publicly shamed in this manner and that the incident was publicised at all, given that it does nothing but detract from Alstonville FC, Football Far North Coast and the game of football as a whole.

The Committee would like to take the opportunity to thank all it’s members and volunteers who consistently do the right thing and tirelessly work to improve our Club and our reputation. Please don’t let this devalue the hard work you all contribute to Villa FC.

Sincerely,

The Committee
Alstonville & District Football Club

Gr8 Barracudas

Our Gr8 Barracudas are having a great season and are really enjoying their football. They recently played at the Thistles Junior Carnival and gained a lot of experience there.

All the best for the rest of the season!

Bunnings BBQ

This Sunday morning (5th July) the club is holding a fundraising BBQ at Bunnings Ballina and we are asking for volunteers to come along and help whenever you can.

The BBQ kicks off at 8am and runs till later in the day. At this stage we only have 2 helpers so any help during the day would be much appreciated!

Please post via our facebook page if you can help or just turn up. Thanks again.

Gr6 Bilbies Having Fun at Thistles Carnival

Last Sunday 7 Alstonville teams attended the Thistles Junior Carnival and all had a great day!

The Gr6 Bilbies pictured below with Coach Alex Pereira really enjoyed the 5 games they played and especially enjoyed receiving their medallions at the end.

Thanks Thistles for putting on a great carnival!

CONDUCT TOWARDS REFEREES

By now you may have heard about the abandoned Premier Division fixture between Alstonville FC and Thistles SC, which resulted in adverse media coverage affecting Villa FC’s reputation, and the reputation of football in general.

Persistent criticism and abuse of referees, by players and supporters alike, has seen 2 senior referees resign this week adding further strain to the existing shortage of referees and assistant referees. If poor behaviour towards match officials continues then the amount of match officials will continue to decline, which will obviously impact the ability of games to proceed in the future.

The committee of Alstonville FC reminds players and spectators that we have a ZERO TOLERANCE LEVEL FOR REFEREE ABUSE.

Please remember that football is a game and meant for the enjoyment of all, including match officials.

Thank you for your support in eradicating this behaviour from our game.
