FFA Cup Dream Ends

Our brave Villa Premier team travelled to Coffs Harbour at the weekend to take on local champions Coffs City in the next stage of the FFA Cup.

Coffs had the home ground advantage and outclassed our team in the first half. But the boys fought back in the second half and were competitive but Coffs ended the game with the win (7-4) and are through to the next round. They travel to Newcastle to determine the winner of the NNSWF stage.

Villa had a bus load of supporters who travelled down for the day to cheer on our team and show pride in the Red and Black. Thanks for all their support and well done Villa for making it that far in the comp!

Premier Men Win FFNC FFA Cup Final

On Tuesday night our Mens Premier team played in the final of the FFNC section of the FFA Cup.

Our men won convincingly 5-0 against Goonellabah and now travel to Coffs Harbour on 16th May for the next round. We are also trying to organise a bus trip for supporters to travel down.

The FFA Cup is an Australian version of the FA Cup in England and is a knock out comp where any club team can participate.

At a certain level the State League teams and A-League teams join the competition but any club team is able to win it if good enough.

Well done Villa and good luck in Coffs!

Premier Divsion - Training & BBQ

The first Premier training session for 2015 will be held on Sunday 18 Jan, 5 pm at CP for new and existing players. There will also be a BBQ at 7pm after training. Hoping to see as many there as possible, newcomers especially welcome!

Mens Premier Team Makes History!!!
Mens Premier Team Makes History!!!
Mens Premier Team Makes History!!!

Last night in their final game of the regular season our Mens Premier team defeated Bangalow 3-2, securing 5th spot on the ladder and putting them into the finals for the first time ever.

This was a courageous effort by the team and one which was much celebrated afterwards.

And in the game before hand our Mens Premier Reserve team also won - consolidating their place in the top five (3rd or 4th) and putting them into the finals also.

See the article and video on our facebook page (link down on left).

Also see the Northern Star article here.

This was a very proud night for Villa so well done to all players, coaching staff and supporters. We look forward to the finals. Go Villa!!!

Joel Wins Fun Run

On Sunday our very own Joel Organ - Mens Premier Player - entered the 10km Ballina Lions Fun Run. After finishing 3rd last year he ran a bit faster this year and won the event. Well done Joel!

Click here for the Northern Star article.

I guess this means he should be able to out run every player on the soccer field now!

Men’s 6th Grade Hanging Tough

They say time goes slowly up Byron way...well at Suffolk Park you’d never get a ‘soft yoker’ after boiling an egg for 3 minutes, as our 6th Grade Men’s team so cruelly found out on the weekend. Deprived of a stirring victory, against the table topping Suffolk Park, with the last kick of the game.

The boys arrived at Suffolk knowing they were under-manned (due to a Saturday wedding), looking a bit like ‘Dad’s Army’ with ankle and knee braces everywhere, limps, moans, but plenty of experience.

Most of us were silently thinking we were here for damage limitation against a side that had already scored 24 and leaked only 5. One Suffolk supporter even joked with us about our age as three teenagers hopped out of his car and started warming up.

Historic Mens Premier Team Win

Our mens premier team registered its first ever away win against Rovers on the weekend. This crucial win put the team up into 4th position - our highest ever position. Well done boys and keep up the good work.
