Grade 13

Gr13 Thunderbolts - First Game for 2012

The 13/2nd Nth Thunderbolts were lucky to play today with so many cancellations due to the weather. Shores United scored first after 20 minutes of play. Thunderbolts came back and answered in minutes to draw 1-1 but unfortunately Shores scored before half time to have their break at 2-1.

The second half proved more disheartening for the Thunderbolts when Shores got a run of goals. Thunderbolts came back with their 2nd goal, and spirits were lifted. The game ended with Thunderbolts going down 9-2. However, Villa will put on a show when we play them in the next round at home with more welcoming conditions.

Both goals were scored by Isaac. Well done Thunderbolts.

Gr13 Boys Training

We are asking all Gr13 Boys players that have not been placed into a team yet to come to training this Wednesday (21 Mar) at GW from 5:30 to 6:30 for training. It would be good if all affected players could attend as we will need to communicate to them what is happening with the teams. Thanks for your help with this.

Taipans vs Lennox

Coming off two good wins at home the Gr13 Taipans were away to Lennox on the weekend. An early home goal gave Villa the lead. However Lennox rallied to score 3 unanswered goals to give them the victory.

The Taipans tried hard in a torrid affair with standouts on the day being Pat Hillier in defence (pictured) and Lachlan Petty in attack.

The Taipans are at home to Casino this Sat in a must win outing to put them in good stead for the finals.

Taipans in the News Again!

The Gr13 Taipans were featured in the Northern Star recently for their recent game against Workers. Featured is Ben Whitehead who is an integral part of the team with silky ball skills in any position.

This weekend the Taipans had two games - firstly against Kyogle at GW3 and then against Dunoon at CP2.

The home side came away with 5-0 victories in both games with Matt Wiltshire getting a double against Kyogle. Taipans are looking good coming up to the finals.

13 Taipans Looking Good!

The grade 13 Taipans are looking good in their new training shirts. Under coach Dave Wallace and manager Rik Whitehead this team decided to go for training shirts this year to give them a professional look and help the players feel more part of the team.

Dave has got them training hard and playing an attractive passing style of football while Rik does a great job at keeping players and parents informed via his 13 Taipans newsletter. Their next game is this Saturday against Dunoon at GW3 at 10AM. They got up against them last time 3-2 so let's hope they can do it again. Good luck boys!
