Frequently Asked Questions

What date is the tournament and where is Alstonville?

The tournament is help on October long weekend – 2nd, 3rd and 4th October 2026. Alstonville is a beautiful town that is 20 mins drive from Ballina or Lismore on the Far North Coast of NSW.

We are only 1 hr flight from Sydney with the nearest airport only 15 mins drive, the Ballina/Byron Gateway.

Where is the tournament held?

All games will be played at Crawford Park and/or Geoff Watt Oval, Alstonville in 2026.

What teams can be entered and what is the cost per team?
  • Open A $300
  • Open B $300
  • Open C (over 35 year olds) $200

What is the criteria for the teams entered in the different pools?

All players must be female and the minimum age is turning 15 years old in the year of competition (15 in 2026).

  • Open A – players from Premier League, Champions League/League 2.
  • Open B – players from Leagues 3, 4 or 5.
  • Open C – players must be over 35 years of age, no exceptions.

Teams must register under one club. They may be made of players from several clubs, if needed. A variation to this rule may be considered by the Tournament Committee on a case by case basis.

To maintain tournament integrity, ‘playing down’ is strictly prohibited. Any team fielding Premier League, NPL, or Championship-level players will automatically be classified by their highest-ranked player and must compete in the Open A division.

How many players can you register for each team?

Maximum registered players:

  • 18 per team for Open A, Open B full side (11 on the field, maximum 16 in the technical area per game).
  • 10 per team for Open C, 6-a-side (6 on the field).

How do I register on Playfootball.com.au for the tournament?

Individual player registration on Playfootball.com is mandatory as part of the competition Tournament Terms & Conditions.  ALL PLAYERS MUST BE REGISTERED BEFORE THEY CAN PLAY.

Players already registered with Northern NSW Football are free to register; unregistered or out-of-region players must pay the NNSWF fee.  Note that this is separate to the team nomination fee and is paid to NNSWF and not to Alstonville FC.

Special note for QLD teams: You must get clearance from Football Queensland in order to play in NSW, otherwise an insurance fee below will be payable. See sanction info on their website here (look for ‘Inter-State Travel Request’ form).

When selecting registration type choose from:

  • Special Tournament Registered Junior (14-17 years old) – $0
  • Special Tournament Unregistered Junior (14-17 years old) – $5.50
  • Special Tournament Registered Senior (18+) – $0
  • Special Tournament Unregistered Senior (18+) – $19.80

Registered player – is a player who has registered to play winter football with a NNSWF affiliated club in 2026. Players registered in 2026 to clubs outside of NNSWF must seek permission from their relevant Football Australia affiliated Governing Body to participate as a registered player. Otherwise, the fee is payable.

Unregistered player – is a player who has not registered to play winter football with any Football Australia affiliated club in 2026 or any player who has not provided the appropriate permission to participate as registered player.

What food will be available during the weekend?

Full canteen facilities with pies, sandwiches, sushi, fruit, snacks and drinks + coffee van will be available for your convenience. We will also have a breakfast BBQ and sausage sizzle running throughout the weekend.

Our club’s major sponsor is The Federal Hotel. And for good reason! Just a short walk up the main street, it’s the perfect place to relax for a drink and a meal.

Our local town main street also has a Coles supermarket and various cafes and bakeries only a 5 min walk away.
